Pilates is a fitness system developed from the exercise principles of Joseph Pilates. It focuses on strengthening the core muscles to provide better support for the spine and to create a foundation for aligning, balancing, conditioning, strengthening and toning the entire body. The system's emphasis on the breath, centering, concentration, control, flow and precision of movement gives it a strong mental component that distinguishes it from other physical fitness methods. Pilates exercises are done either on a mat or with exercise equipment specially developed by Joseph Pilates. White Space Wellness offers 60 minute-long mat Pilates classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 am and from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. No previous experience is required to participate in a pilates class.
